| Feed
Our Feedmill was originally constructed in 1962 to serve the members of the Wright Cooperative. That membership was composed primarily of family farms, each with his own cattle, hogs, and chickens and perhaps sheep or horses too. An associate who worked in the southwest Kansas feed business for many years recalled the days when this mill shipped feed from sun up to sunset on trucks with a capacity of 8 ton. When a new potential customer would call, he would be told that they would “put him on the list”. You see, the mill was already working at capacity. When the coop lost a feed customer for whatever reason, they would call the next person on the list and schedule the feed delivery.
My, how things change! By the early 1990’s the volume of feed produced in this mill had fallen off dramatically. The market place had changed and the current management had to make the same decision that many coop feedmill’s have faced in the past twenty years – rebuild the business or exit it.
In 1997, our feedmill was refurbished and upgraded. A second pellet mill was installed in 2000 and thus a very significant commitment was made to the feed business. Slowly we have rebuilt the business. Now this mill is capable of producing ¾” range cubes, 9/64” and 3/16” pellets as well as textured feeds and minerals. We have proudly developed our RCA Milling brand and produce countless custom formulas as well. We are fortunate to have an outside salesman with experience in production agriculture, who is capable of balancing rations and making sound feeding recommendations for our producers. We own our delivery equipment so that we can provide reliable delivery service of both bulk and bagged feeds in a four-state area.
My name is Cindy Wadley and I am the Milling Division Manager for RCA Milling. I welcome your calls, e-mails and inquiries at 877-808-9593! Let us demonstrate “Quality with a Conscience” for you.
